The program consists of a variety of classes which examine and analyze the role of the United Nations in international law and politics. The program aims to take advantage of Columbia University's proximity to the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

* Decisions of the International Court of Justice

Decisions of the International Court of Justice (World Court), the main judicial organ of the United Nations, are being made available via the web by the Cornell University Law School. At present, the full texts of four 1996 decisions are available. In addition to the decisions, the site contains information on the Court, a listing of judges, an ICJ resource guide, Statute of the ICJ and United Nations Charter, and annotated pointers to selected international law sites. In the near future, the site plans to make all ICJ decisions available.

The FAO has decided to facilitate the access to the wealth of information on food, agriculture, fishery and forestry that is produced as part of its mandate in these areas. To this end the FAO is creating the World Agricultural Information Centre (WAICENT) which will include two different subsystems -- FAOSTAT: covering statistical data and FAOINFO: covering textual information.

* Habitat II - The Second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements

The Second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements, commonly known as Habitat II, will be held from June 3 - 14, 1996, in Istanbul, Turkey. It is planned that until then, CEDAR, supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for the Environment will be hosting all data provided by the Secretariat of Habitat II. It is also planned that, during the conference itself, new and updated documents will be placed and made available on these WWW and gopher servers.
